BIOSKOPE x Kampung Picnic | The Gleaners and I (2000) | Le Steamboat

LIMITED SPACES: Join us for this special BIOSKOPE co-organised with Kampung Picnic! In this exclusive edition, we'll also be having GLEANERS' STEAMBOAT while watching a French film with English subtitles ♥ Click ‘Interested’ to stay updated. Bon Appétit!

An 1867 painting by Jean-Francois Millet inspired septuagenarian documentarian Agnes Varda to cross the French countryside to videotape people who scavenge. Taking everything from surplus in the fields, to rubbish in trashcans, to oysters washed up after a storm, the "gleaners" range from those sadly in need to those hoping to recreate the community activity of centuries past, and still others who use whatever they find to cobble together a rough art. Highlighted by Varda's amusing narration.

In March, we will be exploring the Water, Energy, Food & Biodiversity (WEF&B) nexus and revisit historical narratives and artistic expressions that make these key elements a way of life, a part of sustainable living.
VEGGIE RESCUE(Morning Food Rescue)
For the more adventurous, there will be a Saturday morning sesssion for opportunity for food rescue at Pasir Panjang or Little India(depending on the circumstance of the Food Rescue). Choosing the Veggie Rescue Ticket will mean that you'll pay only $10 for the Veggie Rescue & BIOSKOPE event instead! You will be able to take home any food source you find, or bring them along for the Bioskope event for Steamboat!

The Rescue will start from 9am - 2pm at either location. We will contact you before the bioskope event on the exact location of the Food Rescue event!

For the duration of the event, there will be steamboat food and refreshment. In the spirit of minimising food waste, in case there is surplus from the steamboat, we will also be giving away vegetables rescued from Pasir Panjang earlier in the day! :) The steamboat will start at 6.30pm and participants will have plenty of time to chow & chat before the screening at 8pm.

We will also be experimenting with an innovation tool that strategists, analysts and futurists use to understand complex issues, brainstorm and prepare for the future.

BIOSKOPE will be held at MOX, Katong Point, 451 Joo Chiat Rd, 427664, near 112 Katong Mall. You can catch bus 16 from City Hall or Dakota MRT.

BIOSKOPE (inspired by the word 'movie theatre' in Bahasa Indonesia and 'an early movie projector' in English) is a series exploring less popular, unique films that may bring thought-provoking and inspiring perspectives into our society. Beyond movie screening, audiences get to experience hands-on sessions, to provide an interactive element to the film medium.

We're also helping to fundraise for future community outreach initiatives. Proceeds help cover refreshment, tools, material & facilitation costs, grow BIOSKOPE, space rental and build up the ground-up innovation movement.
